The sixth-place Burnaby Lakers (3-8) upset the Western Lacrosse Association-leading Victoria Shamrocks 11-8 late Friday night at Copeland Arena on the Lower Mainland.

Lakers goaltender Keegan Melenychuk was named game first star for his 52-save performance.

Jacob Dunbar led Burnaby offensively with two goals on a six-point night.

Andrew Kew led Victoria with two goals and two assists while Zach Manns and Brodie Wade also scored twice each as the Shamrocks went to 9-2-1 on the season in wins-losses-ties.

The Lakers were in the Harbour City Saturday night to face the last-place Timbermen (1-11) at Frank Crane Arena.

The Shamrocks have a set against the fifth-place Thunder (4-7) this week with the first game Wednesday night at the Langley Events Centre followed by a game Friday night against the Thunder at The Q Centre.
