One person was apprehended under the Mental Health Act after a police standoff in Saanich that followed a report of a break-and-enter in progress on Thursday.

Saanich police were called just after 9 a.m. about the break-in in the 4400-block of Chatterton Way and cordoned off a home with help from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team.

It was determined that two people were in the lower part of the residence. One left the home about 10 a.m. and surrendered to officers, but the other person refused to obey directions from police.
