Comox Valley RCMP said the woman was hit at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 1800-block of Anderton Road.
An 83-year-old cyclist has died after a collision with a tractor-trailer unit in Comox.
Comox Valley RCMP said the woman was hit at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 1800-block of Anderton Road.
Despite the efforts of bystanders, paramedics and firefighters at the scene, the cyclist died of her injuries, police said.
RCMP said evidence suggests the driver of the truck did not see the cyclist before the collision. The driver remained at the scene, provided first aid to the cyclist and co-operated with the investigation, police said.
Driver impairment or speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision, the RCMP said.
The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating the circumstances.
Anderton Road was closed for several hours to allow a collision analyst to investigate the scene.
Anyone with information on the collision is asked to contact Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321.
