Five people are facing fisheries charges in Richmond Provincial Court for allegedly overfishing in Powell River.
Three charges were laid against Victor Marundan Adaza, Damaso Quinto Baylon, Camilo Solmiano Caraang, Brendalyn Cuaresma and Alicia Paronable Tamayo for having more than double the daily quota of clams and oysters and illegally possessing clams and oysters.
The daily quota is set by the British Columbia Sport Fishing Regulations.
The illegal possession of shellfish falls under the Fisheries Act.
The illegal fishing allegedly took place on Aug. 21, 2024, in Powell River.
The five are scheduled back in Richmond Provincial Court on June 24 to fix a date.
