India resumes bid to beat England in second test after rain delay

BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — Play finally began on Day 5 of the second test between England and India on Sunday after a delay of one hour and 40 minutes because of wet weather.

BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — Play finally began on Day 5 of the second test between England and India on Sunday after a delay of one hour and 40 minutes because of wet weather.

England resumed on 72-3 and most likely was looking to bat for a draw, with India having set a world-record target of 608. The home team needs 536 more runs to win.

India had 80 overs to take England’s final seven wickets and claim a series-tying victory.England won the first testin Headingley last week.

Rain throughout the morning led to the ground staff rolling out the covers.
