Section of highway closed in both directions
Four people were taken to hospital and a section of Highway 4 was closed early Sunday afternoon after a multi-vehicle crash between Coombs and Whiskey Creek.
Drivers in the area were warned the highway was closed in both directions and to watch for traffic control and a detour. Eastbound drivers were redirected at Hilliers Road South, while westbound traffic was sent on a detour at Pratt Road to Van Horne Road before getting back to Highway 4.
Emergency crews were on scene and B.C. Emergency Health Services said four ambulances with primary, advanced and critical care paramedics were dispatched as well as an air ambulance.
Emergency medical treatment was administered to patients on the scene before four patients were transported to hospital in stable condition.
