Oak Bay police are reminding people to be cautious with unsolicited phone calls after a resident reported being defrauded by a caller claiming to be from a financial institution.

The caller directed the resident to a website that turned out to be fraudulent, which led to unauthorized withdrawals from two accounts.

The amount stolen was not provided.
