A 46-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle as she was walking near the median of the Trans-Canada Highway near Morden Road in Nanaimo on Monday night, police say.

Nanaimo RCMP Const. Sherri Wade said the incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Both the woman and the vehicle were heading north at the time.

Wade said there is no indication the driver was at fault “in any way.”
