West Shore RCMP cordoned the area off and said they were notifying people in nearby homes and businesses.
The RCMP explosives device unit gave the all clear on a suspicious box found in Langford, just across from city hall, on Thursday.
Police had cordoned off a parking area at 866 Goldstream Ave., at about 11:15 a.m., and notified people in nearby homes and businesses. Goldstream Avenue remained open to traffic.
West Shore RCMP said the Explosives Device Unit conducted a “thorough examination” of the box, determining that there was no explosive device inside.
Police gave the all-clear at 5:40 p.m.
“We thank the public and residents of the area for their patience as we worked to ensure public safety in this incident,” West Shore RCMP said in a statement.
A spokesperson for the City of Langford said city hall remained open for business during the incident.
